She peed in the potty, she peed in the potty!!! OMG, I thought this day would never, ever come...

She is really digging the Dora chart and stickers that I printed off from somewhere...I'll post a link later, we have to hit the potty again.

How to Make a Grilled Cheese Sammich

First...you spread margarine on the bread, making sure to jam the knife in the bread many, many times.


Then you put a slice of cheese on the bread and stick it with the knife again...


While Mama cooks your sammich, pick a plate from the cupboard. Mama's kitchen sucks.


Still waiting for that sammich to cook. Licking the plate in anticipation.


Waving the spatula around, while Mama demands that I give it back...


Yay! My sammich is done, and Mama gave me lots of ketchup-y goodness to dunk it in. I've been wearing my pajamas all day long and I won't let Mama change me. Good thing it's nap time soon...Mama looks like she has a headache :) .

Sammy Sunshine is 2 !!!!

Holy crap, has it been 2 years already??? My baby is in a big girl bed and everything now!!!

Sammy Sunshine celebrated her second birthday with lots of cousins and assorted aunties, uncles, grammas and one Papa. We had a blast.

Kylie finished her dress for Sam just in time and we got lots of compliments. Such a bright, cheery fabric, and Kylie put a lot of time into it. My gosh, do I ever love my new sewing machine. I don't know why I didn't buy it 10 years ago.



I was only able to get one decent picture of her opening presents, just because there were so many little kids crowding around, which is cool. She had so much fun with all of them.

Oh yeah...it was also Scott's birthday, and I was so busy frosting cupcakes and cleaning that I didn't even have time to make him supper when he came home from work. He had to make supper himself lol. Poor guy. I tried to make it up to him by watching Underworld with him after the kids went to bed on Friday night, but I seen to have a mild form of ADHD when it comes to movies...I just couldn't keep up with it and ended up crocheting and Googling a few things while he watched. There's a prequel and a sequel and we watched the middle one because he felt that one was the first one...oh my gosh, when did movies become so much work???

Wow, it's been a while! So much going on, so let's do this in point form:

• the big kids started school last Wednesday: Kylie is in grade 6 and Jacob in grade 3. They're so big, my gosh :( . Seems like the girls in Kylie's class are getting meaner and meaner as they get older, I'm not looking forward to junior high.
• I'm working on year-end financial reports for PAC, which is waaaay easier this year. Last year, the previous PAC treasurer came to my house and dumped a big box of papers on my table, that I had to sort and file...it was crazy, I just about gave up my post about 20 times while I worked on that report. This year, everything is meticulously filed and xeroxed (maybe I'm a bit over zealous in that department). So the reports are coming together quite quickly.
• I've decided that I won't be at the school so much this year...I just don't have it in me anymore. I'll keep the role of treasurer, unless someone else wants it, which would be fine: I just won't be around for hot lunches and day-time meetings, etc. Time for someone else to step up (I hope).
• I ordered my very first piece of fabric from etsy!!! Oh my gosh, I was so scared...I don't know what exactly I was so scared of, though lol. It's just a hunk of sock monkeys by Moda for a scrub shirt. I love me some sock monkeys.
• Sam is in a big girl bed!!! She looks so small in her Dora bed, and I'm a bit sad that my last baby is in a twin bed...but she loves it, and she looks darn cute in there. I was sure she would be up at least once during that first night, but nope: 10 hours straight. Nice.
• I have now finished 2 crochet projects!!! Yay, lookit me go. I got a whack of library books on the subject and now I'm an expert (just joking, as if!). And I'm almost bored of it already lol.

Well, later taters. Off to clean floors and wash diapers...what an exciting life I lead :) .

Tuesday.

"And now for the continuing stoooory..."

Does anyone remember that? I think it was Pigs In Space on the Muppets...but I can't remember how it went exactly, and it is bugging me to no end. It keeps me up at night to be perfectly honest with you lol.

Let me tell you a little story. Once there was this little girl, who was such a miserable hag that I couldn't take her anywhere. It all started when she turned 15 months old. Her poor, inexperienced mother was at her wit's end. Why was her perfect baby screaming and throwing herself on the floor when she didn't get her way? Why was her beautiful girl having such a hard time? What on earth was going on? Should we see the dr?

Fast forward 10 years, and that mother has more experience...and she also has a 15 month old girl again...flailing on the floor when she's not allowed to play with the cordless telephone...screaming at the top of her lungs in Superstore because she's not allowed to throw the bananas at passing shoppers...

Today has been a hard day. My baby is having horrible temper tantrums, while her older brother and sister try to parent her ("No, baby, don't touch the Christmas tree! No, baby, don't touch the TV!"). It has been loud here, and very, very hectic. I had to send the big kids in the basement to play, and let Sam cry it out on the floor, because she wasn't allowed to scribble in her book with a pen.

*Sigh*. I can laugh at the situation now, as I write the day's events in her baby book. My poor baby, all she wanted was the phone...everyone else in the house gets to hold it sometimes, why can't she?

It's late, and everyone is sleeping here. I'm going to bed now, and tomorrow morning we will wrap all of Scott's presents while he's at work. He should be home by 130, and then the party can begin :) .

A Sammy Sunshine Update

I thought I would do a post on what my baby is doing lately.

-Typing anything takes Mama twice as long lately, because one of Sam's favourite activities is pulling herself up to the keyboard tray and pounding on the keys. She does it so quickly!!!! Argh...little bugger LOL.

-She has four first-year molars coming in all at the same time. She doesn't really wake up at night due to teething, so I'm lucky in that way; instead she wakes up at around 6am screaming (an hour early). Poor kid, those molars feel like little rocks in her gums and by the time breakfast rolls around they've gone back down. I wish they would erupt already!!!

-Sam is 14 months today and is walking around furniture (slowly and cautiously). Jake didn't walk until 16 months, so I'm not really worried about the delay...it will happen in time, I'm sure. When she crawls, it's on one knee and one foot for some reason LOL. It's pretty funny to watch.

-She dances, sings, and can sign "more". She says "no", "da da" (Daddy), Kah-key (Kylie) and Ga-Ga (Gramma). If I won't give her something, like the phone that I'm talking on while she sits on my lap, she pulls my hair LOL. She eats whatever we eat, but seems to particularly like cheese, apples, bananas and lettuce with a touch of dressing on it (no, not all in the same bowl).

-We are still nursing, and first thing in the morning is absolutely a must for her. If Scott gets up with her, she whines and cries until she sees me...sometimes crawling to my bedroom door and sitting outside whining until I get out of bed.

My baby...why do they have to grow up so fast???
